Priority-Based Productivity

Have you ever felt like you have too much on your plate and not enough time to get it all accomplished? I know I’ve felt that way before. I found a way to resurface from the constant overwhelmed, and I want to teach you about priority-based productivity.

Trying to be supermom doing all the things for everyone all the time is absolutely exhausting and does not lead to freedom and joy we all long for in motherhood.

What if there was a way to prioritize your days so that you get done what needs to get done without the guilt and without feeling like a failure?

Enter the Eisenhower Matrix. The matrix is comprised of four quadrants based on urgency and importance.

If we live in reactive mode taking action just based on what life throws at us, we’re likely only focusing on what’s urgent in our life. The fact is, though, that not everything that is urgent is actually important to us.

Quadrant 1 are the tasks that you find both urgent and important in your life. Please note that I said, “in your life” because what one mom considers urgent and important may not be what you consider urgent and important. Also, what you consider urgent and important now may not be what you consider urgent and important a year from now, especially if you enter a new season of life.

Quadrant 1 tasks could include paying bills, important meetings, healthcare appointments, approaching school deadlines, or approaching work deadlines. These are tasks that you consider important in life (ideally these tasks are in alignment with your core values) and you have a sense of urgency around them.

Can you think of Quadrant 1 tasks that you have on your list of to-dos right now?
